Thanksgiving
I've been compelled to paint several paintings for my church lately. Here is one that I entitled "Thanksgiving". After seeing this on the computer screen I realize that I need to learn how to take better pictures. I am very honored to be blessed with the talent of painting. In person this is so much better. My goal for the 2014 year is to improve upon my painting abilities, improve on my photography skills (or improve on the lighting aspect to decrease the glare) and to be more faithful to my art blog. I don't know if I have any faithful followers but it is for my documentation of artwork anyway. May each of you reading this be Blessed this Christmas Season!!

Mother & Child
"When you find your true passion, you should do it often." That's what my friend Delilah Smith tells me. I truly believe that and want to paint more. But, yet, sometimes life seems to get in the way. After all, life is full of ups and downs. I have found, though, that when I do paint, I find a peace beyond all understanding. I find that I can forget my surroundings, circumstances and negative emotions and just center in on the joy of creating a painting. Lately, I have found that I LOVE to paint animals. A dear friend of mine loves gorillas. Recently, she had a birthday and I painted a mother and her child as a gift. It was a 16x20 Artist Canvas Board done in oils. She loved it. I hope you do too.

A Mother's Love
So, you would think that since I LOVE Giraffes, that I would have painted them sooner. Well, I guess I wanted to wait until I had some practice and the time was right. I am adding this to my black and white with a "touch" of color. Yet, since baby giraffes are 6 feet tall from birth, that makes the baby a lot of color!! This is a 10 x 20 Canvas Panel done in oils.

Watercolor
So, this was a lesson that I did today. I am taking an art class and learning about watercolors. I have never really used watercolors too much so I want to extend my abilities. I think that watercolors are a bit more difficult since you are using paints and a great deal of water. I'm not sure how much I will do with this medium, but I like to think outside the box.

Blue Sunrise goes along with my love of the sky. I view this and the Blue Sunset as a set. Of course they stand alone but I think they would be amazing if they were matted together. I think its obvious that I have a fascination with these small ACEO cards. (2.5" x 3.5") $2.00

Blue Sunset -- SOLD
The clear blue sky on a calm summer day comes to an end. I have noticed that I so love to look and admire the sky. The beautiful colors. The clearness of the colors. The way the clouds look. It's just a peaceful experience. Maybe that's why I love to paint the sunsets or the sunrises. The choice of colors is never wrong because if you watch long enough, you will see all the colors of the rainbow.
