2nd Ammendment

I had never planned on painting the USA flag, but a kind gentleman at church asked me to paint a Christmas present for him so I made an exception. This 16x20 oil painting turned out better than I had hoped. I have been experimenting with transparent images and wasn't real sure if this would work. Then there were the stars and such.... Yet, I like it!! More importantly, he liked it!! I would love your thoughts so leave a comment!!

It's a Brand New Year!!

Good Morning!! I'm sitting here with my coffee, the sun streaming into the windows, the fire in the wood stove is crackling and heating up the dining room, the dog is sleeping and so are the boys. It's so peaceful. The quietness has helped me to reflect on the past year and also to realize that it is already the 4th of January.

Since I didn't make any resolutions this year,  I have nothing to regret already. Actually, I haven't done that for several years. I have begun to believe each new year should be filled with thoughts of "life changes". To have thoughts and reflections of what did I NOT like about myself the previous year and what can I change to make things more to my liking THIS new year?  A few months ago I began to make a list of several "life changes" for this coming year. The changes are for all areas of my life. Spiritually, emotionally, physically and in my businesses. Since I am a firm believer that there is never a "perfect" time to "start" any changes in your life, I started my new year a few weeks ago.

So, with that in mind, one of the business changes I decided on was to change the face of my art blog. My friend and mentor, Delilah, once said that my blog should become a reflection of me. Not just posting of my art. Yet, until recently, I have never really understood that concept fully. I've read several blogs over the past few weeks and learned the reason behind blogs (or at least my interpretation).

In this new knowledge, I have decided today to be a consistent blogger of my art and I will also have one for my journey through life and all of its ups and downs and twists and turns. This doesn't mean that I will only be writing things. I just will add a bit more commentary to the paintings that I post and sometimes will just post writings to talk about whatever is in my mind that day. As I grow my following for my blog, I would love for my followers be able to get to know me in some way.

Here is my first small insight about ME the person:
My art is my relaxation tool. I love to create artwork because I can immerse myself in what I am doing and find peace and control. Life is full of stress, chaos and the unknown and seems to be able to take a physical tole on my body. Therefore, I look for those moments of peace that are created when I sit at the easel and let my mind enter a world that I have created. It makes me smile! Along this journey, I hope to create paintings that others find a smile in too. I plan on using this gift from God to create a multitude of creations that others find fascinating and peaceful. Art is about expression! Now let's go express myself!!

It's time to create the life I LOVE!!
Have an Amazing Day!
